Counselors-In-Training (CITs) are rising 9th-12 grade students who are interested in gaining work experience in a camp setting. Working closely with our camp counselors, instructors, and camp directors, CITs will gain hands-on experience in the classroom. CITs will spend part of each day working with their assigned group. They will also work with the camp directors and discuss problem solving strategies, team building, and ways to be a good role model.
CITs will work primarily with our Herons Day Camp programs. Working with the camp director and group leader, CITs will plan and lead a small activity based on the weekly theme. They will also receive first-aid and CPR training.
CITs will receive a $50 stipend at the end of each work week.
Space is limited in this program. Please see the instructions below for submitting your application.
Interested candidates are required to complete an application and follow an interview process. Applications must be submitted by May 1st. Camp management staff will review applications and qualified students will be brought in for interviews. Once the interview process is completed, candidates will be informed of acceptance.
All candidates will be required to participate in all of the accepted days of the their selected camp session, and to abide by the camp policies, procedures, and Code of Conduct, otherwise stipend will be forfeit.
The Counselor In Training (CIT) program runs all eight weeks of camp! Camp is closed July 2-6.
